Who We Are

Why We Exist

The climax of all redemptive history centers around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. After his resurrection, Jesus commissioned the church:

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:18-20

We believe this is to be the mission of every local church until Jesus returns and brings His redemption to completion at then end of the age. Therefore, the Great Commission is the mission of Mountain View. We have chosen to articulate this mission by saying:

We exist to make Christ known as we passionately love Him together!

We believe this statement speaks to the proper motivation, purpose, and context of living out the Great Commission. We are motivated by our worship of God to pursue the mission of God in the context of the people of God.

1 Worship (motivation)

“…passionately love Him” (Romans 12:1-2, 1 John 4:19, Colossians 1:16-17)

As followers of Jesus, our lives should be a response to who God is and what God has done. This pursuit motivates all that we do, and it begins and ends with Him!

2 Mission (purpose)

“…make Christ known…” (Romans 1:16, Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:13-15)

The church has been entrusted with the good news that transforms lives. We have been commissioned to be and make disciples of Jesus. The Christian life is anything but boring; rather, we have been given the greatest purpose that the world has ever known!

3 Community (context)

“…together!” (Acts 2:42-47, 1 Corinthians 12:12-26)

The God-given context for living out our mission is in the community of God's people. God’s design of the local church is beautiful and we joyfully embrace the community as a gift!

Community

Where We Are Going

Every church has a particular context and calling. When we are transformed by the love of God, it's impossible to contain it within our homes or church. God's love overflows into tangible actions of love for others. At Mountain View, our vision is to be

To be a multiplying church reaching the city of Fort Collins and impacting the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In order to fulfill this vision, we have established two things that we are asking the Lord to do over the next 10 years:

Student Ministries

That in the next 10 years we would have enough volunteer leaders to have a student ministry team in every middle school, high school and college dorm at CSU.

Church Planting

That in the next 10 years we would send 10 church planting teams into new communities.
