Equip Day 2024

November 9 @ 9:00 am 4:45 pm

Equip Day is a day of learning about various topics that are relevant within our body and society! Classes range from technology and grief to studying Scripture and finances. You won’t want to miss this day of growth and fellowship.

As always on Equip Day you can join for just a class or two, or spend the whole day learning alongside the rest of the body. It’s completely free and we do ask that you register!

Session One (9:00am – 10:30am)

  • Navigating Youth Sports as a Christ Centered Family – Corey and Carrie Voggesser
    • Sports for youth and adolescents has shifted, creating challenges that make one question if it is worth it. Time commitment, financial demands, peer pressure, and lack of sportsmanship has intensified. Conversely, sports and athletics are part of God’s creation, they can be used to really promote and glorify God, who made our bodies. This class will equip you to understand the problems—but also the opportunities—for faithful Christian parents.
  • Walking with Those Who are Suffering – Blue Willis
    • We all know someone in our life who is suffering, whether it be a friend or family member, a coworker, or ourself. The grief and despair of loss, the consequences of sin, a mental or physical illness, are but a few of the sufferings that we may encounter. My hope and prayer is that after this class you feel more equipped and encouraged to step into caring for and having deeper conversations with those who are suffering in your life.
  • Gospel Conversations – Calder Marriott/Danya Elliott
    • This class will discuss practical tools and heart postures for sharing the Gospel in everyday conversations with your co-workers, friends, and neighbors.
  • Faithful Grandparenting – Marc and Jill Emery
    • There is great joy in grandparenting and as followers of Jesus we want to do it well. Let’s encourage one another in ways to stay connected, deepen relationships and point our grands to Biblical Truth.
  • Life Planning – John Kuddes
    • Organizing important documents, titling major assets, anticipating incapacity and transferring assets upon death.

Session Two (10:45am – 12:15pm)

  • Growing Godly Men – Dave Sharman
    • *MEN ONLY* – This class will discuss the pathway to godly, mature manhood. Men will never “drift into holiness.” We need clarity of what it is to be men of God and the pathway that leads to righteousness and faithfulness. We will discuss the Biblical model and essential teaching men need to truly become godly, faithful men.
  • The Anxious Christian: A Biblical Perspective on Anxiety – Nick Cistola/Kim Martin
    • In this class we will explore some key Biblical passages on anxiety, understanding how Christians can navigate it in light of Scripture. This class aims to demystify anxiety, recognizing it as a common struggle while offering practical tools for working through anxiety.
  • The Joy of God’s Word – Calder Marriott
    • God has revealed himself to us in His life-giving Word. In this class we will briefly interact with the question, “How do we read God’s word well?”
  • Are These Tomatoes Rotten? – Aaron LeDuc
    • As Christians, we are aware of the benefits, as well as challenges and temptations of online content. However, we often lack the ability to discern what is worthy of engagement and what should be avoided. We also often lack the discipline that’s needed to make wise decisions. This session will give you tools to wisely discern the aesthetic value of movies, music, shows, and more, as well as motivate you to make those decisions courageously.
  • Financial Planning – John Kuddes
    • Risk, assets, stocks and bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, annuities and investment management approach.

Session Three (1:30pm – 3:00pm)

  • Gospel Centered Parenting – Kevin Wolfe/Shelley Bogus
    • Biblical parenting is no easy feat. Rooted in consistent prayer and dependence on the Lord, we can be equipped to share/live out the gospel with our kids. Join us to learn more about sharing the gospel with your kids, shepherding their hearts, and implementing godly discipline. Our intention is true heart transformation, not merely behavior modification.
  • Peace, Joy and Smartphones – Jacob and Krista Chacko
    • We want to discuss the ways our phones hinder and help our love for God and others and how can we as Christ followers steward this resource for God’s glory and our joy.
  • Parenting Your Adult Children – Dave and Dianne Sharman
    • Your parenting doesn’t end when your children leave home. But how you parent changes. Join us for a discussion about what parenting looks like as your kids transition out of the home and how you can continue to point them to Jesus.
  • Dancing in the Minefields – Aaron and Karla LeDuc
    • Nobody stands on their wedding day and imagines the kinds of challenges that will come. What does it look like to grow in Christ and in unity amidst the challenges that life throws our way? Sit down with a panel of couples that have been through significant trials and learn how they pursued trusting Christ through them.
  • Financial Foundations – Brian Creencia
    • Come learn about practical ways to build a foundation of God-honoring financial stewardship. We’ll focus a lot on budgeting and also discuss things like protection and debt.

Session Four (3:15pm – 4:45pm)

  • Faithful Parenting in a Sexually Disoriented World – Jacob Chacko
    • The idea of talking our kids about gender and sexuality can be paralyzing to many parents. What do we say and when do we say it? How can we equip them to be a light in this world while also adequately protecting them? Join us for this discussion as we seek God’s grace to move us from a place of fear to one of humble confidence and faith.
  • The Wounded Heart – Christine Davis/Shelley Bogus
    • *WOMEN ONLY* – For women who have experienced sexual abuse and for women who love and care for them. Learn how you are not alone, how God loves you, and how you can move forward on your healing journey.
  • Prayer and Fasting – Kevin Wolfe
    • A life of depending on the Lord is fostered by a life of prayer. In this class we will look at what the Bible says about seeking Him through prayer, and how the age-old Christian practice of fasting can enhance our prayer lives. You will learn how the Bible instructs us about these important disciplines and learn practical tips for how to live them out.
  • Apologetics Basics – Aaron LeDuc/Josh Elgard
    • Every Christian is called to be equipped to defend and proclaim our faith in a well-reasoned and biblical way. This is the work of apologetics. Come explore the theological foundations of this calling and develop practical skills that will help you to boldly, knowledgeably, and winsomely proclaim the good news.
  • Rich Toward God – Brian Creencia
    • For those who have an established financial foundation, come and dialogue about the joy and blessing of living with generous hearts and learn about practical financial strategies for maximizing resources through tax-saving opportunities.
