  • Ideas to Make Easter and Good Friday Special this Year

    With Good Friday and Easter looking very different this year, you may be bummed and feeling like the weekend isn’t going to feel special like it usually does. We hope this Easter weekend ends up being a very special one. Regardless of what you end up doing, this Easter will probably be one you never forget. If you would like to do something unique this year, we have put together a list of some ideas for making Good Friday and Easter special even though we can’t all be together. By no means should you feel any pressure to do any of these things, only use these ideas if you feel like they would serve you and your family! And for those of you who want to try something new, use an idea below or be creative and think of something on your own.

    Good Friday Ideas

    • Fasting/Prayer – Consider fasting for a meal (or more) on Friday. Use your hunger as a reminder to thank the Lord for sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins. Take time 
throughout the day to meditate on the crucifixion.
    • Make Unleavened Bread – Make your own unleavened bread to be used for communion. Click here for an easy recipe for making unleavened bread.
    • Room/House Darkening Service – Darken the room or your entire house for the Good Friday service. Use only 
 candlelight or the light of your device (iPad, computer, TV). Use the room 
 darkening to help you focus on the significance and intensity of Christ’s death 
 on the cross.

    Easter Ideas

    • Sunrise Service
 – Take a family hike and enjoy the sunrise and the Easter service. Or, sit in some 
 lawn chairs in your yard, enjoy the sunrise and then join us for the Easter 
service.
    • Dress Up – Dress up as if you were going to Easter service
    • Host a Virtual Watch Party – Consider hosting a “watch party” on Facebook that notifies your friends and 
invites them to watch. Use the comments section to interact with people during

    • Community Watching – Plan to watch the Easter service at the same time as friends, neighbors,
