  • Some quotes about our glorious access to the presence of God

This weekend  we looked deeper at the glory of the New Covenant – that Jesus entered into heaven itself through His own blood, granting us confident and bold access to our Heavenly Father.  Here are some quotes that I came across recently that highlight this glorious reality.  I hope these words encourage you to draw near WITH CONFIDENCE TO THE THRONE OF GOD’S GRACE for all that concerns you today!

(PS – All of these quotes came from firstimportance.org, a great site to make your homepage for daily reminders…)

“Since the soul-enriching path of prayer is open to the very weakest saint; since no high attainments are required; since you are not bidden to come because you are an advanced saint, but freely invited if you be a saint at all; see to it, dear reader, that you are often in the way of private devotion. Be much on your knees, for so Elijah drew the rain upon famished Israel’s fields.”   C.H. Spurgeon

“The wonder of the high priestly ministry of Christ lies not just in where he is, but in who he is. Where he is we may boldly go; he has opened the way to the sanctuary of heaven and the throne of grace. Prayer enters where God dwells. But the boldness of our approach rests on who he is. We know him because he has first known us, and knows us still in all our helplessness and need.”  Edward Clowney

“The great encouragement to draw near to God is Jesus, at the right hand of God. He is our interceding High Priest, He is our Advocate with the Father, our Kinsman-Redeemer within the veil. Coming through Him, the poorest, the vilest, the most abject, may approach the throne of grace with lowly boldness.  The all-powerful, all-helpful, all-loving, all-tender Saviour and High Priest, is waiting to present the petition, and urge its acceptance, and plead for its answer, on the basis of His own infinite and atoning merits.”    John McDuff
