Titus-Formed by the Gospel: Gospel Shaped Leadership
Welcome to another episode of the Descend Podcast! If you’re new here, each week we take Sunday’s sermon and descend into what it looks like to live it out in our everyday lives as we share the love of Christ with those around us. Our prayer is that this podcast would encourage you and remind you of God’s goodness throughout your week.
In this week’s episode, Haley is joined by pastors Aaron LeDuc and Blue Willis as we dive into our new series on Titus: Formed by the Gospel. We’re on week two of this new sermon series and if you missed either Sunday, you can catch up on the series HERE. Aaron preached this week on Gospel-Shaped Leadership from Titus 1:5-9.
- When have you personally felt the unique weight of church leadership compared to other kinds of leadership in the secular world?
- If leadership is first about character, not giftings or experience, can you both share about a time when you felt ill-equipped as a leader — and how God met you in your limitations?
- Verse 6 says an elder should be ‘above reproach,’ but that doesn’t mean ‘above criticism’. Have there been times when loving feedback has genuinely shaped you as a pastor? And what has that taught you about how our church can bring concerns in a healthy way?
- Where have you most clearly seen the power of God’s Word bring hope in the context of missions or Soul Care ministry, and what has that shown you about gospel-shaped leadership?
- How do you as pastors decide what our church needs to be taught? And what does your own time in God’s Word look like right now — what are you personally being shaped by?
