Romans

The book of Romans shows that righteousness comes by grace only through faith in Jesus Christ, and believers are empowered to live in unity and genuine love through God’s Spirit.

This is where you can find all the resources and videos for our inductive study through Romans. There will be new content added weekly to aid you in your study. If you have any questions or need help with any of these resources, feel free to contact Aaron or Jess with questions.

Apart from the launch video – which you should watch first – every weekly study will have a follow-up video where we will talk through additional resources, big ideas in each study, and other thoughts. The important resources below include the weekly study verse breakdown, schedules, and other helpful documents as we work our way through.

Launch

Start here by learning how to do an inductive bible study. We’ll walk you through various tools that help you learn to observe, interpret, and apply the Word of God for yourself. This study should take a little over an hour.

Overview

Before diving into verse by verse study, we’ll do a study on the whole book of Romans. This gives a big picture understanding of the book as a whole. Before answering the questions on the study guide, it’s helpful to start by reading through Romans – ideally in one sitting – once or twice. Download the study guide by clicking below

Week 1 – Romans 1:1-1:17

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God

Week 2 – Romans 1:18-1:32

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth…

Week 3 – Romans 2

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.

Week 4 – Romans 3

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?

Week 5 – Romans 4:1-12

What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh?

Week 6 – Romans 4:13-25

For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

Week 7 & 8 – Romans 5

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(There is ONE follow up video for both weeks 7 & 8 – Romans 5:1-11 and Romans 5:12-21)

Week 9 – Romans 6

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?

Week 10 – Romans 7

Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives?

Romans 1-7 Recap

If you’re joining halfway through our study, this is a great way to catch up on what’s going on in Romans. It will also help you to watch the Launch and Overview videos!

Week 11 & 12 – Romans 8

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Week 13 – Romans 9

I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit

In addition to this week’s video, there is also a helpful article from C.J. Mahaney

Week 14 – Romans 10

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

Week 15 – Romans 11

I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.

Week 16 – Romans 12

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Week 17 – Romans 13

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

(Due to technical difficulties, this week’s follow up is audio only)

Romans 13 Follow Up

Week 18 – Romans 14

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

Week 19 – Romans 15:1-13

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Week 20 – Romans 15:14-33

I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.
